Basic Levelling

Levelling is one of greatest fun things you can do in Warcraft. However do it wrong and it can seem like the loneliest place in the world.

You’ve probably already decided on a race and class so this will select which is your starting area.

When levelling here are some things to remember:

  • Set yourself a target of how many levels you plan to do
  • When you pick up quests make sure they are within your level to do if your soloing i.e. green or yellow in your log

  • Mark your quests on your map so you can move quickly between them thus completing the quests quickly (an addon called cartographer will help you here)
  • Make sure you have enough freespace in your bags to pick items up. You don’t want to have be returning to sell your junk all the time so invest in some bags
  • Stock up on food and drink to keep yourself going and avoid too much downtime with normal regeneration
  • If you need ammo stock up on that to and health/mana pots if you got them
  • Make sure you have repaired and your gear durability is 100% (if you allow your gear to reach 0% durability then you will loose the item bonuses – Titan panel is an addon that can provide lots of useful information like this)
  • Read up on the quests as there is plenty of information to give you tips on how to complete them (an addon called Lightheaded will help you here)

As you progress these simple steps will ensure you climb the levels at a nice steady pace. As items drop your ability to handle quests gets easier. Visit the Auction house from time to time and purchase some upgrades, if you have enough gold.

If you want to level really fast then there is plenty of information to research on the web or if you cannot wait there are some great guides you can purchase.

Remember there are other players levelling to so if your stuck, interact and ask to team up, as this will speed up the questing process.

If you find an area where there are NPC’s (non-player characters) that are really easy to kill, then spend a bit of extra time clearing them over and over. More experience the quicker the levelling goes and who knows you may get some nice items dropping. Welcome to grinding… How much you grind is entirely up to you.

This covers the basics of levelling so go out and conquer those quests and most importantly have fun.
