Starting Zone Done So Where Next??
Levelling to 20 is probably one of the first markers every new player should aim for as it’s where you get your first mount.
It’s also a time where you first develop and hone your playing skills as you’ll be deciding where to place your first set of talent points.
| Alliance should go to the following zones based on what race you are: Humans – Go to Westfall, head for Sentinel Hill Dwarves – Go to Loch Modan, head for Thelsamar Night Elves – Go to Auberdine, use the boat from Rutheran village Draenei – Bloodmyst Isle, head for Blood Watch Horde should go to the following zones based on what race you are: |

These are recommended based on the length of character travelling between zones to save on down time. Less travelling means more time levelling, however if you want to do one of the other zones then it’s not a problem just be prepared for a long walk.
Maximise Your Time
The zones mentioned above are for all classes depending on your faction, and have some nice quest series where you can kill mobs then hand in multiple chains for a good amount of Xp. There may be on occasion a walk that is longer than normal, so here’s how you maximise your time.
Get the addons called cartographer and liteheaded.
Cartographer is a map based addon that enhances your in-game map with valuable information when you open it. The best part of all is that it provides in game coordinates where you can set your own waypoints, either to plan routes or just note a memorable location; for example a good mining spot.
Liteheaded is an addon that links in with WOWhead.com forum, providing information given by other players on the quests you do. When you open your quest log you will see a new page on the right. This contains the information from the quest forum on WOWhead where you can get some great in-game tips whilst questing. As most people also add coordinates to their forum posts you can click on these to mark yourself out the best possible route for you to optimise your questing time (cartographer has a waypoint arrow which will appear on your screen).
These addons are located at: WOW Interface.
Extra Things To Do
When you get to level 17-18 Alliance or level 15 Horde try to find a group and do an instance run. The Alliance should go to the Deadmines and the Horde should run Ragefire Chasm.
Use the looking for group tool first and if you cannot find enough people try putting a message in to the chat channel for the city. This can usually turn up a few people who will do the run and if your really lucky you may get boosted by a nice high level player.
If you find your still not level 20 or you don’t do the instances then you can crossover to the other zones mentioned above or grind mobs for some extra Xp until you are. Grinding will also get you loot to sell which will tally up your copper, silver and gold.
If you find grinding boring then make a game out of it. I used to test my characters strengths by seeing how many mobs I could take on, or practice different styles of combat.
As I said in earlier articles practice makes perfect and don’t worry if you die, just enjoy the game.
This ends this friendly nudge in the right direction, however if you want more detailed tactics keep checking back here or purchase one of the guides by clicking one of the banners above or below this post.
Happy hunting!
